Lazaro Roque-Albelo, Manager Latin American Affairs
Dr Lazaro Roque Albelo was appointed as Manager of Latin American Affairs in September 2014. In this role he oversees SolGold License-to-Operate in the flagship project Cascabel in Northern Ecuador and provides strategic advice and support to the organization in the areas of Community Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Financial Management, Environment, Government Relations, Safety and Health and Security.
With more than 20 year of experience in Environmental Research, Sustainability, Management, Stakeholder relations and International development, Dr. Roque-Albelo act as vice-president of Exploraciones Novomining S.A and other SolGold’s subsidiaries companies in South America. Previously, he held a number of senior management positions with leading Australian environmental firms supporting the Western Australian operations of mining companies such as BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group, Rio Tinto, Newcrest Mining, etc and international NGOs. Dr Roque-Albelo spent 15 years living and working in projects in Latin America, including, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Chile.
Dr. Roque Albelo holds a Philosophical Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Environmental Sciences and Management from Cardiff University, Wales and had completed higher education studies in environmental management and business administration at Oxford University, UK and in Australian institutions.
